Senators block attempt to entrench bureaucrats at Voice of America and USAGM

BBG Watch Media Commentary

A group of conservative senators has blocked a bill which would allow holdover bureacrats form the Obama administration to entrench themselves in the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which was previously called the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), and continue running the Voice of America (VOA), Susan Crabtree reported for The Washington Free Beacon.

Joining the opposition is Rep. Ed Royce (R., Calif.), a 25-year veteran of the House who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Royce, who will also leave Congress at the end of the year, has long backed major reforms to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which was formerly the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).
