Ted Lipien, the Committee for U.S. International Broadcasting and BBG Watch co-founder, serves as president of Free Media Online (FreeMediaOnline.org), an NGO which supports independent journalists and promotes media freedom worldwide. Ted was formerly Voice of America acting associate director and was in charge of VOA broadcasts to Poland during Solidarity’s struggle for workers’ rights and democracy. He is the author of Wojtyla’s Women: How They Shaped the Life of Pope John Paul II and Changed the Catholic Church, a book about Pope John Paul II and feminism.

This page features some of his U.S. media op-eds and articles on the history of international broadcasting. The photograph taken in the 1980s at the Voice of America shows former National Security Advisor Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski, Ted Lipien, and former VOA Polish Service deputy director Marek Walicki.
