As of 11:00 AM EST Saturday, March 1, Russia’s RT, Voice of Russia, Al Jazeera, BBC, Deutsche Welle and almost all other major international media outlets have been reporting for some time that the upper house of the Russian Parliament approved President Putin’s request to use military force in Ukraine.
The Voice of America (VOA), funded by U.S. taxpayers, is not reporting this news and its main English news website is showing an old news report about Ukraine.
UPDATE: At about 11:10 AM, VOA finally posted a news item on its English website about the Russian decision to use military force in Ukraine.
VOA devoted only two sentences to the historic move by Russia and failed to specify, as other international media outlets did, that it was the upper house of the Russian Parliament that voted to approve President Putin’s request for use of military force in Ukraine. VOA is also not reporting that Russian senators voted to recall Russia’s ambassador from the U.S. over President Obama’s Friday speech on Ukraine, which VOA barely covered and did not immediately post video from the White House. Both BBC and DW did.
VOA had no correspondent at the White House Friday when President Obama spoke about Ukraine and warned Russia against using using military force.
From VOA News: The Russian parliament has approved President Vladimir Putin’s request to use the Russian military in Ukraine’s Crimea region, further raising tensions between the neighbors.
Saturday’s vote made official what Ukrainian authorities have described as an ongoing deployment of Russian troops in Crimea.

One can also compare these two sentences on the VOA English website, which represent basically the only new Voice of America news reporting Saturday on the situation in Ukraine with multiple news reports on commentaries on the Voice of Russia website.
VOA has no correspondent at the White House and its executives appear to be enjoying their weekend at home without making any arrangements for the news emergency over Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine.
