Alhurra TV Launches Season 2 Of “Rayheen Ala Fain?”

RAF-Cast2-300x230Alhurra Television announced the launch of the highly anticipated second season ofRayheen ala Fain? today at a press conference in Cairo. The second season will include an entirely new cast of six young Egyptians, as they tackle issues such as sexual harassment, jobs, education and the rights of women. The second season will debut on Dec. 14th and air every Saturday at 10:00 p.m. (Cairo time).

Rayheen ala Fain? follows the lives of May, Heba, Moheb, Sarah, Ahmed and Mamdouh, who represent various socio-economic, cultural and political backgrounds. The program follows their day-to-day lives as they respond to the daily challenges facing all Egyptians; whether it is how to make enough money to feed your family, or striking out and finding your own voice. Each week the cast comes together to discuss these topics, and provide their own personal insights.

“This is a diverse and dynamic group of Egyptians, who are not afraid to share their opinions. They courageously open their lives up to a camera crew and speak out about topics that are a part of daily life, but rarely addressed on television. The first season of Rayheen ala Fain? met with critical success, lauded for its innovative style and concept. Al Sabah newspaper stated, “the most appealing element about this show is that it focuses a complete community by highlighting the lives of different individuals.” The series was also shortlisted at the 2013 Association of International Broadcasting’s Media Excellence Awards for Best Specialist Genre Series.

Surveys by research companies such as ACNielsen show that Alhurra has a weekly reach of more than 20 million adults. Alhurra is operated by the non-profit corporation “The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc.” (MBN). MBN is financed by the U.S. Government through a grant from the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency.  The BBG serves oversight and as a firewall to protect the professional independence and integrity of the broadcasters.
