Thomas Allen Coburn who died from cancer on March 28, 2020 was an American politician and physician, a member of the Republican Party, a United States Representative and a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma who in 2010 called the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), the former name of the U.S. Agency for Gloval Media (USAGM), “the most worthless organization in the federal government.” The then BBG’s Director of Public Affairs Letitia King responded in 2010 to the “most worthless” description that “The current BBG Board is actively engaged in the management and oversight of the agency.”
