World Media Watch has noted that Voice of America did not report on U.S. ambassador to Germany John Emerson’s statement that tapping German chancellor Angela Merkel’s phone was “stupid.”
Emerson’s comments were reported by Russia’s RT.

World Media Watch also noted that VOA English website had nothing on the diplomatic spat between U.S. and Russian ambassadors to the UN over Pussy Riot. The website pointed out, however, that VOA Russian Service did have a report.
Al Jazeera also reported on its English website “US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power and her Russian counterpart Vitaly Churkin have exchanged jibes over the Russian protests punk band Pussy Riot, two of whom were recently freed from prison.”
RT reported: “As Samantha Power met two released Pussy Riot members in New York, Russia’s Vitaly Churkin wondered if the US ambassador to the UN would join the controversial punk band and suggested a tour route. The jibe did not go unnoticed.”

Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), which like VOA is also funded by U.S. taxpayers through the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) did report on the diplomatic spat between the two ambassadors.

Voice of America English news website had nothing on the concert in New York even though Madonna introduced Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina by saying: “It’s time for the rest of the world to be as brave as Pussy Riot and to stand up against people like President Putin” and others who “do not respect human rights.”
VOA English website posted recently seven reports on Justin Bieber and had dozens of reports on the British royal family between April 2011 and October 2013.
Fortunately, VOA Russian Service did post reports on Madonna and Pussy Riot in New York.
