BBG Watch Commentary
Under the leadership of Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) CEO and director John F. Lansing, who lacks experience in U.S. international broadcasting, U.S. government operations, and U.S. public diplomacy, and Voice of America director Amanda Bennett, who in her post-election note to VOA staff would not even acknowledge Trump’s victory or mention his name, the Voice of America still has not posted online a full profile of America’s next First Lady Melania Trump, or reported at any length in on her meeting Thursday with First Lady Michelle Obama.
On the election night, Voice of America journalists complained that VOA management had two “Clinton will win” programs pre-written before the U.S. presidential vote, while there were none ready about Donald Trump. During the election campaign, both Trump and Bernie Sanders were vilified in some Voice of America programs. These attacks were one-sided, offered no balance, and violated the VOA Charter, which is U.S. law.
Other international news organizations and U.S. media outlets did post today profiles of Melania Trump, and many posted separate reports on the Michelle Obama-Melania Trump meeting. The Voice of America did not.
An excellent report was done by Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) on Melania Trump’s hometown in Slovenia.
BBC had a profile of Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump.
The Voice of America did not.
We repost Google Search results which show numerous media reports about the next U.S. First Lady.

In 2013, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton described the Broadcasting Board of Governors, the federal agency in charge of the Voice of America, as being “practically defunct.”
The Broadcasting Board of Governors and the Voice of America are now even more chaotic than in 2013.
