BBG Watch Commentary
THE WORLD SPEAKS OUT is a new page on Radio Free Asia (RFA) website showing the world’s solidarity with the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. Thanks to RFA, Voice of America, BBC and other Western media using multiple news delivery channels, China’s “Great Firewall” of censorship and jamming of broadcasts is no longer effective. Messages received by RFA through calls, e-mail and social media show that the Chinese government’s censorship and spin machine failed inside and outside China.
RFA’S AUDIENCE AND OTHERS WEIGH IN THROUGH CALLS, EMAIL, AND SOCIAL MEDIA
“Recently, RFA Mandarin reported the Occupy Central protests in Hong Kong with well written scripts, audio, pictures and videos in a timely and detailed way. These made me and all other audiences completely understood the situation. On the contrary, media in China didn’t dare to report the real happenings, or the facts. Rather, they are trying to conceal the truth and slander the protesters.”
