How can someone look at that headline and not see there is a problem?,” a Voice of America reporter, who sent us this screenshot from a VOA website, has asked?

There seems to be something wrong with almost every story; it is so amateurish. It is almost as if people think no one is out there, so there is no need to worry about quality,” the VOA reporter added.

VOA Putin Corrected

Compare this Voice of America report, “International Journalists Say Putin Associates Ran $2 Billion Through Offshore Accounts” | VOA News and this Radio Free Europe /Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) report, “Massive Investigative Report Documents Kremlin-Linked Shell Companies” | RFE/RL to a report, “Sergei Roldugin, the cellist who holds the key to tracing Putin’s hidden fortune” | The Guardian and video from the British newspaper.

Quite a contrast.

Where were RFE/RL and VOA when an international consortium of investigative reporters was documenting a vast network of money transfers by close associates of Russian President Vladimir Putin to funnel more than $2 billion into offshore shell companies?

RFE/RL fired its award-winning investigative reporter Anastasia Kirilenko when she tired to expose these money transfers and link them to President Putin.
