BBG Watch Commentary

One hour after BBC and numerous other international and U.S. media reported that shots were fired at blasphemy debate in Copenhagen, the main news website of the U.S. taxpayer-funded Voice of America (VOA) still did not have any story on this development.

The last check of the VOA English news website was done at 12:29 PM ET. BBC news report was last updated at 11:29 ET, which means that it was posted even earlier.

UPDATE: VOA finally posted its first short report, “Bullets Spray Copenhagen Cafe’s Free-Speech Meeting | VOA” at 12:33 PM ET.

Russia’s RT also has posted a news breaking story well before VOA did. RT’s report on the Copenhagen shooting is already showing more than 1,000 Facebook “Likes.”

At 12:50 PM ET, the VOA story posted at 12:33 PM ET is showing one (1) Facebook “Like.”

RT has updated its report, “Deadly shooting at blasphemy debate in Copenhagen featuring cartoonist Lars Vilks | RT, with additional information, photos, and Tweets. At 12:50 PM ET, RT report is showing over 1,100 Facebook “Likes.”

BBC has also updated its report with additional information, photos, and video.

RT report is showing 1,600 Tweets.

VOA report is showing one (1) Tweet as of 12:50 PM ET.

Why would anyone want to go to VOA for this story if it is more than one hour late and offers very little information and no multi-media content?
