BBG Watch Commentary
BBG Watch posts a partial Google Search list of international and U.S. media which reported on Edward Snowden’s answers during Reddit Monday afternoon Ask Me Anything (AMA) session after Sunday night’s Oscar victory for “Citizenfour.” Director of the Oscar-winning documentary, Laura Poitras, also joined Snowden for the Reddit Q&A together with journalist Glenn Greenwald. The full Google Search list on this news story is many pages long.
U.S. taxpayer-funded Voice of America (VOA), which was recently described by VOA director David Ensor as the official state broadcaster of the United States, ignored the Reddit AMA session with Edward Snowden and devoted only a few sentences earlier to the Oscar for “Citizenfour,” a documentary film about him.
The list of media covering the Reddit AMA with Edward Snowden includes Russia’s RT, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Moscow Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, TIME, Sputnik International, The Independent, The European, Huffington Post, USA TODAY, The Hill and many other major international and U.S. media outlets.
Russia’s RT posted a full-length report on February 23 on the Oscar for the Snowden documentary. This report now shows over 11,000 Facebook Shares/Likes.
RT also posted a full-length report Monday on Snowden’s Q&A session with Reddit.
As of 6PM ET Tuesday, February 24, 2015, the Voice of America did not even bother to report on a statement by NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers who said Monday, February 23, that disclosures of National Security Agency secrets by the former contractor Edward Snowden have damaged U.S. efforts to battle terrorists.
The Voice of America is overseen by the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), a bipartisan board and independent federal agency.
