UPDATE: 10:45 PM EST, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 – Voice of America is not updating its U.S. weather report, which was posted very late during the day, hours after BBC and others had it as one of their top news stories. It was number one news story on the BBC homepage for many hours before VOA posted its report. By now, BBC and others have updated their reports many times while VOA has not. VOA reports refers to “at least five deaths in Alabama and two in Georgia blamed on the weather. By now, even Iran’s Press TV is reporting more deaths, “US Deep South winter storm blamed for at least 13 deaths,” Press TV, Iran. BBC has also updated its report and shows a larger number of weather-related deaths in the U.S. By now, VOA’s U.S. weather report still shows only 7 (seven) Facebook “Likes.” BBC’s main U.S. weather report (BBC has several) shows 2,731 Facebook “Likes.” Iran’s Press TV report, which was posted only recently, shows 10 Facebook “Likes.”

UPDATE: 7:45 PM EST, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 – At the end of the day, VOA finally posted a short report with video on U.S. weather, many hours after BBC and other media posted and updated their news reports on the winter storm in the U.S. multiple times.
As of 7:45 PM EST, the VOA U.S. weather report is showing only
4 (four) Facebook “Likes” and 17 Tweets.
As of 7:45 PM EST, the main BBC U.S. weather report shows
2,155 Facebook “Likes” and 352 Tweets.
As of 4:30 PM EST, Wednesday, the Voice of America (VOA) English news website has no reports today on severe weather in major parts of the United States. VOA posted a U.S. weather news story last night, but it has not been updated for nearly 24 hours and it no longer appears on major VOA website pages. Other international media outlets have been reporting on the U.S. weather story all day today.
VOA Homepage Screen Shot, 2014-01-29 at 4.22PM EST, shows no U.S. weather related news reports. There are also no U.S. weather related reports on the VOA United States News page.
Severe weather in the U.S. has been the top news on BBC homepage for many hours, with not just one but five reports listed. BBC’s main report, “US snow storm strands thousands,” BBC, is showing more than 1,100 Facebook “Likes” as of 4:30 PM EST january 29, 2014.
BBC reports that “thousands of people spent the night on motorways, in schools and churches as a snow storm spawned traffic chaos in the US deep South.”
